2024 U-Con Auction Info
If you don’t have plans on Saturday at 1pm, how about attending U-Con’s auction in Auditorium 1? If you do have plans, then I hope they are “Attending the Auction” because it’s a lot of fun and a percentage of the proceeds goes to charity.
Item Drop Off
If you have some items to auction off, intake begins at 11 am and will end at 12:45 pm. You will want to get your items in earlier rather than later because we are limiting the total lots for the entire auction to 80 (give or take a really small bit of wiggle room). The closer you arrive to the end of intake, the more likely we will ask you to bundle your items into bigger lots and nobody wants to have to buy 100 games for just that one gem they are looking for. We also ask that in general, you consider organizing your items in reasonable bundles (i.e. a couple games per lot rather than a separate lot for each game). It makes the the auction run smoother and faster. Who knows! You may come up with a themed bundle that makes our auctioneer laugh. It’s been known to happen and it’s pretty amusing.
Bidding
If you intend on bidding for items, plan on showing up slightly earlier than 1:00 to pick up your paddle. Remember to hold your paddles high if you want to bid and keep them up until you are acknowledged. The auction is cash only, so have it on hand when you pick up your winnings at the end. There is an ATM in the hotel lobby and banks nearby. Also, please turn in your paddle at the end of the auction. One of them wandered off last year, and I would prefer not to make any more replacements.
Attending
Whether you are bidding or just watching, all are welcome to come and enjoy the auction and the witty banter of our auctioneer Joe.
Thank you all for your continued support. Excelsior!
