Dates Change for U-Con 2022

We have an important announcement.

U-Con 2022 is moving to the weekend of October 7-9, 2022!

This is necessary because UM Football added a home game on our previously scheduled dates. We have been working behind the scenes with Eagle Crest, and fortunately they were able to move us to another fall weekend.

At this time, we fully expect that the convention will be held face to face. We will observe appropriate pandemic procedures for the situation at the time; it is far too early to be sure what that will entail but we will not hesitate to require masks and vaccination if the situation calls for it. (We won’t be engaging on this topic until closer to the date.)

We urge attendees to book rooms only via the Marriott website, and to use our code. Doing those things ensures that you will be able to cancel your reservations should we be forced to go virtual again.

Hey all, U-Con President here. Since it’s possible that some U-Con attendees aren’t as familiar with the Ann Arbor area as the U-Con team are: we aren’t moving off a home football weekend because we all want to go to the game. Some of us are fans to one degree or another, but that’s not why we’re moving the con.

We’re moving because it’s a practical impossibility to run the con on a UM football weekend in or near Ann Arbor because the crowd that comes in for UM football games disrupts the roads, and most people who do know the area are unwilling to go anywhere near A2 on a football weekend. In addition, Eagle Crest has standing arrangements to host groups associated with the game on football weekends, so they didn’t want us there either.
