U-Con 2019 pre-registration closing soon

Hi everybody, we just wanted to say hi and give you a quick reminder that pre-registration is closing a week from today (October 20) at 11:59pm.

What does this mean for you? Basically, you have one more week to get your badge before prices go up. If you don’t sign up by then, you’ll still be able to register from the comfort of your own home, but just without your sweet discount. If you’re running really behind, you’ll still be able to register until Nov 8. But after that, you’ll have to wait until the day of the convention (Nov 22) to sign up and pick out your games. You’ll miss out on leisurely scrolling through our offerings while cross-referencing your favorite gaming website and sipping on a cup of tea. And by then, it will probably be too cold to want to be wearing your comfy bunny slippers outside anyway.

About

He got re-involved with board gaming when he found a mostly intact copy of HeroQuest at a garage sale. He started volunteering at U-Con in 2015. His current favorites are Bunny Kingdom, Viticulture, and Star Realms, but he's always looking for the next great game.

  1. Please edit this confusing post. The title and the opening line of text says that pre-reg is closing on 10/20. Then later in the text it says that you can actually pre-register until 11/8, but at a higher price. So which is it? When does pre-registration actually end?

    • Thanks George, sorry if that wording was confusing. Online Pre-registration ends 10/20. Online Registration runs from 10/21 to 11/8. If you’ve got a suggestion for wording that might be a little easier to parse, I’m definitely open to suggestions 🙂

  2. Hi, thanks. Seems to me that since Online Registration ends before the con starts, then it is confusing that it’s not also part of “pre-registration”. If the only difference between “Online Pre-reg” and “Online Reg” is the price change, then maybe just say that Online Pre-Reg runs through 11/8, but the Online Pre-reg Discount (or maybe “Early Pre-reg Discount” ends 10/20?

    • Ah, I see what you’re saying. For U-Con, pre-registration isn’t just about a price difference. Pre-registration is a way for us to thank folks who have attended in years past by giving them advance access to signing up for games that may sell out early. The discount is more about us telling folks we appreciate their advance RSVP to help us plan the rest of our events.

The online (non-pre) registration is us providing a preferable experience for folks who may be coming for their first time, or who don’t follow U-Con as closely through the non-November parts of the year so everybody doesn’t have to wait in a line on Saturday morning.

Of course, we still offer in-person registration because sometimes you don’t know what you’re in the mood to play until the day of, or your plans might change with little notice. We just generally have seen a trend of folks preferring to make their selections in advance so we try to accommodate that. Thanks for sharing your perspective, looking forward to seeing you next month!
