Aftermath: May Games Day
May found us arriving one day earlier than we typically congregate at The Corner on account of Sunday being Mother’s Day. I had the bright idea to schedule Games Day a couple hours earlier as well and then, at 11pm Friday before Games Day, a friend of mine asked if I was aware that the Color Run was also that Saturday. No, I was not and yes a ton of runners were already at The Corner when we arrived early the next day. Fortunately running and getting doused with colored corn starch seems to be an early morning thing so by the time people started showing up for Games Library Day, most of the runners had gone off to do mid-day runner things.
We did try and entice a table to stay and play with us. They might have too, if they weren’t shedding blue (and yellow and red) with every shake of their heads. Perhaps next time.
We weren’t able to grab the usual “lounge area” so upon arrival we commandeered a corner table and began annexing tables as the Color Runners left. All in all I think we had 5 tables and 25-30 people show up. While waiting, I cracked open the newly acquired Loch Ness and Matt Q. and I had a go around the board. It’s a fun little game and I love the Nessie monster you get to drive around.
We snagged Cheryl O. for a mixed game of Bushwhackin’ Varmints out of Sergio’s Butte and Bell-Bottomed Badassses on the Mean Streets of Funk which turned bizarre really fast. Cheryl stole my Belle of the Prairie and gave her a Pimp Hat, leaving my poor Car Wash unmanned and unloved. The B-Movie games are strange within their own sub-set and downright bizarre when you mix and match genera…which they absolutely encourage. Eventually everyone else showed up and we had quite a few games up and running.
Salmon Run; a Kickstarter game which I expect is really fun to play once you learn how to drive your fish around. My fish was…not so good at the swimming.
