Child Sitting Services

For the time being, there does not appear to have enough demand to make a child sitting service on-site at the convention feasible. One possibility for our parent attendees is use of Safe at Home, which has provided sitters throughout the Metro Detroit area for more than 10 years. Sitters are available 24 hours a day to watch child(ren) in your hotel room or home, with a four-hour minimum. One sitter may be able to watch several children; so finding another parent to share with may be desired. Safe at Home can be reached at 800/790-7233 from within Michigan or at 313/271-2170. We suggest you make sitter reservations ahead of time to ensure availability. Please note that Safe at Home is not affiliated with U-Con Gaming Convention. This is not an endorsement of their services, and information is provided solely to assist our attendees in making their own arrangements.

Parking

The Thompson Street surface lot will have metered parking (pay at the machine on the North end) on Friday and Saturday. The street lot is just south of the Parking Structure. The parking structure will have $9 parking on Saturday (can go in and out). Both places and all metered parking spaces are free each day after 6pm and all day on Sunday.

Please take care to pay attention to the posted signs when parking in University lots. Some have odd hours when they are available for public parking, and parking rules have been known to change on short notice. Please contact registration@ucon-gaming.org with any questions.

Dining

If you are looking for places to eat, the Michigan Union has food available on site. On the ground floor in the MUG (Michigan Union Grill) the food court includes Villa Pizza, Mrs. Fields, Wendy's, Subway, and Magic Wok. Amer’s, on the first floor, serves gourmet coffee, pastries, and other food.
